Education and Vocational Training
Peterpol Foundation provides education and vocational training to deaf students in Uganda, including sign-language, crafts/trade skills, life skills, and personal hygiene through their small school. The foundation is currently seeking funding to expand the school in order to serve a greater number of students.
Community Education and Outreach
Peterpol Foundation strives to combat the stigma and
discrimination that is prevalent in Uganda through educating the families and communities of the deaf students they serve, and through providing counseling and support to adult deaf individuals. Peterpol has also started an entertainment group to provide community education through music, dance and drama! Future outreach plans to also include community sign-language courses to encourage hearing individuals to learn to better communicate with the deaf in their communities.
Advocacy and Policy Change
Peterpol continues to be a advocate for policy change on the local and district level. They attend policy meetings for the district and local education committees, as well as participating in helping government-aided, private, and parochial schools to better understand the needs of individuals with disabilities.
